General Conditions

Antwerpen à la Carte vvzrl
1.Definition

Antwerpen à la carte vvzrl is an initiative of 6 Antwerp city guides. Antwerpen à la Carte is inscribed in the crossroads bank of companies as number 0783.987.553.

Antwerpen à la carte is a vvzrl, seated at Pretoriastraat 86 in 2600 Antwerpen.

2.Maximal en minimal number of participants per guide
  • Maximal: On a walk we use a maximum of 20 participants per guide. This restriction to 20 participants per guide makes sure you can walk more comfortably in town. Exceptions to this rule can be discussed with the organizers when booking the tour.
  • Minimum: there’s no minimal number of participants, but a minimal number of 10 will always be charged.
3.Confirmation

When you book a tour at Antwerpen à la carte, be it through the website or phone call, you will receive an e-mail confirming the tour you booked. The mail further states the date of the tour,  the time the tour is to start, where the tour is going to start and how many people will be participating.

 4.Payment

Payments are to be made in advance. In case a tour has not been paid for, the time slot which was planned is freed up again.

 5.Starting time
  • Please be at the starting point well in time.
  • Should you be late? Please call the number mentioned on the site or the private number of the guide if you have received it.
  • If you are late for more than 15 minutes, and you didn’t inform us, Antwerpen à la Carte can cancel the walk.In this case there can be no refund of the sum that was paid.
  • Antwerpen à la Carte keeps to the ending time that was agreed on.
6.Change in the number of participants

Changes to the number of participants which have an influence on the number of guides needed, can be made until one week before the tour.

 7.Cancellation
  • Reserved tours can be canceled without any cost until no later than 14 days before the start of the walk.
  • When you cancel a tour no later than 48 hours before the start of the tour, 50% of what you paid will be refunded.
  • For cancellation later than 48 hours before the start of the tour, no refunds will be made.
8.Price

The conditions mentioned in the mail count for the tour(s) chosen and the number of participants mentioned in the mail. Changes in the number of participants will reflect on the amount to be paid, according to our general conditions. Any costs prepaid by Antwerpen à la carte, drinks, tickets, etc  will be billed after consultation and mutual agreement.

9.Liability – Safety

Our guides have taken out a Civil Liability insuranc e. Nevertheless each participant is personally responsible for his own safety and the safety of others, e.g. in traffic.Antwerpen à la Carte cannot be held responsible for material or immaterial damage a participant suffers during the tour, or for damage a participant causes to others while walking with us. Antwerpen à la carte cannot be held responsible for damages or theft of belongings of participants.

Hence these practical tips to ensure safety:

  • Always obey traffic rules
  • Mind other road users, such as cars, lorries, cyclists, walkers
  • Follow the guide’s instructions
  • Wear adapted clothing (stilletoes and cobble stones e.g. don’t go well together)
  • We don’t have long, steep climbs in Antwerp, but here and there are staircases. If you mention, while booking, that wheelchair users or people with a rollator are in the group, our guide can adapt the trail and avoid possible obstacles.

10.Weather conditions and events

Our guides take into account weather conditions and events. This can mean that the trails of the tour has to be adapted, that we halt at places where you are better protected from cold, rain an wind, or where there’s not so much noise. If weather conditions don’t allow us to walk safely (storm, glazed frots, heavy snows), a new date can be programmed after consultation.

11.Excecution by third parties

Antwerpen à la Carte reserves the right to have the tour guided by other parties in exceptional conditions.

12.Evaluations – Disputes

Remarks on the quality of service can  always be made: directly t the guide, by phone or via the website, preferably within 5 days after the tour. We will always try to come to a mutual agreement in case of founded complaints.

Legal disputes concerning the general conditions and bills belong exclusively to the authorities of the Courts of Antwerp.
